Tips & Tools
I always like to take notes on blank copy paper when it comes to homework notes, in case they need to be handed in or in case I need to compile a study guide! Another alternative is printed dot grid paper. It provides an outline so that you can write relatively straight, while still maintain a clean look to your notes.
Tip No. 1:
Dot grid paper- Use dot grid paper, or put lined paper underneath copy paper if you find it difficult to write straight. Here is a good template:
There are also other templates with smaller or larger dot grids.
Tip No. 2:
Headers- I like to use a header, and I typically write the subject as my header. This makes it easier to keep everything organized. As a sub-header, I usually write the chapter (of the textbook) or the main idea of those specific notes.

Tip No. 3:
Color Co-odination- I always chose a color scheme for that day of notes. It allows my notebook to look more organized and cohesive, but still makes it easy to differentiate between different days, and to know which information is important at a glance. (If you want to see what supplies I use for this, refer to my supplies page!)
Tip No. 4:
Different fonts- I also like to use different fonts and lettering styles in my notes to make them look better and also as a way of organization. For example, I tend to make a lot of my sub-headings all capital letters, and occasionally I'll use script to differentiate important information that I need to memorize.
Tip No. 5:
Graphs and Charts- Since I tend to like to use my homework notes as study guides for tests, it's helpful for me to spend a bit more time to draw out any important charts or graphs as it helps me understand the material better, and it's easy to find later on when I'm studying.
